Our God is amazing and unique in that as the only True God He created man to have fellowship with Him and through that fellowship be glorified forever. Scripture tells us man was created for God’s pleasure and glory and this is man’s highest and most fulfilling call in life. Bethel has been blessed by God to have been able to meet together to worship and glorify God in the community of Rigby, ID since 1979. The fellowship of believers started as a Bible study in a private residence before moving to the basement of the old library building downtown. In the early 80’s God had blessed to the point that property was purchased just outside of town and a small log cabin church was built on it. Then in the mid 2000’s a building project saw a beautiful new addition go up to the glory of God; where today we worship the Lord, study His Word to us, and seek by His grace and aided by the Holy Spirit to be Ambassadors for Christ that faithfully serve Him until He returns for His bride.
Our History
Bethel Baptist Church exists to faithfully carry out the commission Christ gave to the church when he returned to the Father. The Word of God guides and instructs everything that we do at Bethel. The church is not for entertainment. The church is not political. The church is not a vehicle for any type of personal gain or standing. The church is the living body of Jesus Christ made up of individual believers in Him. The mission of Bethel Baptist Church is to build the Body of Christ, His church. We believe this one mission has two parts each one impacting the other. Bethel Baptist Church exists to evangelize the lost through the faithful ministry of the Gospel of repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ alone and to then teach and grow the believers in Christ that they would become firm in the faith, resembling Jesus Christ, and burdened to go on to do the work of the ministry.
Our Mission
Our Message:
God’s Message to all Mankind
THERE IS ONLY ONE TRUE GOD
Isaiah 44:6 “Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and His redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; beside me there is no God.”
Isaiah 43:10b “Before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.”
The One True God is Eternal having no beginning and no end:
Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Psalm 90:2 “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting thou art God.”
The One True God is Holy:
I Peter 1:15-16 “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation (lifestyle); Because it is written, Be ye holy, for I am holy.”
The One True God is Love
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
MANKIND’S PROBLEM-SIN
All have sinned:
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”
Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
Sin’s Penalty:
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Judgement:
Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”
Second death:
Revelation 21:8 “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, Idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
THE ONLY PAYMENT FOR MANKIND’S SIN-JESUS CHRIST
God incarnate-fully God and fully man:
Colossians 2:9 “For in him(Jesus Christ) dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.”
Hebrews 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever:
John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
Jesus Christ The Sinner’s Substitute:
II Corinthians 5:21 “For he (God) hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus Christ The Sinners’ Perfection:
Hebrews 10:17-18 “For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified…And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.”
THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
By Grace through Faith:
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”
In Christ alone:
Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Repentance-Confessing and turning from sin:
Acts 3:19 “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”
Our Purpose
TO PURSUE THE PLEASURE AND GLORY THE ONE TRUE GOD IS WORTHY OF
Revelation 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
TO FELLOWSHIP WITH THE FATHER, JESUS CHRIST, AND ONE ANOTHER
1 John 1:3 “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.”
These two verses show the purpose for which Bethel Baptist Church exists. We are a group of believers in Christ who have agreed together before God to live our lives in a way that is true to these verses. Our purpose is to glorify and please God our Creator Who we have been called to have fellowship with in Jesus Christ, and it is a fellowship that we share with other believers as well. This fellowship with God and personal relationship we have individually with Christ affects every part of our lives and unites us in Christ making us an assembly of believers all seeking to be ambassadors for Christ until He returns. This is the church and it exists to make disciples and grow them into the image of Jesus Christ.
